Annual Christmas Food Drive – With help from Golden Advantage patrons of the Bank of Lancaster, our volunteers collect, sort and bag food, the forward it to food banks for distribution to eligible recipients designated by the Lancaster and Northumberland Departments of Social Services.
Concerned Citizens Committee – Emergency home repairs and maintenance are provided for those who cannot afford these services and whose health or safely are threatened – including structural repairs, plumbing, roofs and wheelchair ramps. No government funding is received for this service.
Donated Vehicles – Through the Lancaster and Northumberland Departments of Social Services, we serve as transfer agent for persons donating working vehicles to eligible individuals needing transportation to jobs.
Emergency Food Boxes – On recommendation of the Lancaster and Northumberland Departments of Social Services and clergy, we provide nutritious, non-perishable food to last each family member about two weeks.
Financial Assistance – We help to meet payments for utilities, emergency housing, medical expenses and other needs of those referred to us by the local Departments of Social Services after assistance from governmental sources has been exhausted.
Free Firewood – Our volunteers with chainsaws and trucks cut, split and deliver firewood without charge to persons referred by the Lancaster and Northumberland Social Service Departments and pastors.
Furniture and Household Goods – We operate a warehouse to receive donations to help people in need, especially those who have lost their homes because of fire. Before receiving help, recipients are screened for qualification by a professional under contract to Interfaith.
Home-Delivered Meals – We coordinate delivery of hot meals and supplementary food to persons 60 and older who are declared eligible by the Lancaster and Northumberland Social Service Departments and Bay Aging because they are unable to prepare meals on account of age, handicaps or other infirmities.
School Supplies – Each spring and fall, we provide school supplies to children in area public schools whose need is determined by teachers and guidance counselors.
